DescriptionMondell's Lake Rentals (aka Caboose 'n Cabin) is a family-run resort. An ideal vacation spot for a small family unit or a group of 4 people. We provide fully-equipped kitchens and bathrooms as well as bedding, towels and barbeque facilities. We have 215 feet of shoreline with a large dock providing free moorage for our renters boats. There is a large barbeque on the beach plus free use of a canoe and kayak.
We are close to Polson (13 miles) for groceries and shopping. Bigfork, Missoula, Kalispell, and Glacier Park are easy day trips as well as St. Ignatius and the Bison Range.
The caboose is a lovingly renovated Burlington Northern caboose on actual wheels (trucks) and tracks. This provides a unique opportunity to stay and sleep on a caboose that still rocks gently to and fro, a treat for railroad buffs! There are 4 twin-size beds with a separate shower room and toilet room for added privacy. Attached to the caboose is a large deck with a barbeque and eating area leading to an easy path to Flathead Lake.
The cabin is a rustic structure that conveys all the charm of a step back in time when living was slower and calmer. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a futon in the sleeping porch that converts into a double bed. The cabin can comfortably house a family of four.
The grounds are park-like, with deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife meandering from the wooded area on our property. The view is breathtaking with Flathead Lake in all its beauty encompassing all the senses framed by the mountains on the west shore. The sounds of the lapping of the waves, the quacking of the ducks, the honking of the chevrons of geese flying overhead accompanied by the soft rustling of the towering pines refreshing your spirit and your body.
