David Thompson Days - A Community Rendezvous - Thompson Falls

A free community celebration that highlights the regions heritage and the history of map maker, trapper and voyager David Thompson.

A Rendezvous Camp will be set up at the Rose Garden along Main Street in downtown Thompson Falls. Throughout the day Voyagers of the early 1800s will be dressed in authentic attire and re-enacting the life of a fur trader. Stories will be told around an open camp fire, while period food will be cooked and shared. Demonstrations include how to clean, load and fire blanks with a flint rifle; how to start a fire; axe throwing techniques and weaving. A fur trading tent will be on display showcasing furs and authentic traps along with a replica of a 25 foot Voyager Canoe.

Special guest speakers and historians will present their books and research at various times through out the day. A community dessert contest and parade down Main Street round out the days activities.

Concessions and beverages will be sold during the event as well and a vendor area. The event is produced by the Thompson Falls Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Sanders County Historical Society, Thompson Falls Public Library, the Fur Traders Association and area Rendezvous Camp Re-enactment group.
