Description
On the edge of expansive wilderness, Abbott Valley Homestead offers vacation homes and cabins that are rustically romantic, yet comfortably convenient. The five cabins; Mickeys, Baptiste, Brownstone, Millhouse, and Quintonken are handmade original homes. The interiors are beautifully updated with all modern amenities minus a TV and telephone. Each home has a fully appointed kitchen, two-three bedrooms, a full bath, linens, laundry facilities, electric heat as well as a wood burning stove.
Our property is located on North and South of Abbott Creeks. The old homestead and hay barn were built in the early 1900s. Our parents bought this beautiful place in 1950, and the original homesteader, Mickey, lived in his cabin until his death years later.
Over the years our family has ranched in this small valley and continued a homestead tradition. Some of us have chosen to live here and raise our families while placing the meadows and timber in common trust. Often the deer, elk, and moose can be seen grazing with the horses and cattle. Two creeks, north and south Abbott meander through the property. The Flathead National Forest boarders our land on three sides, eliminating any development. Out the back door is wilderness and out the front door, a creek, beaver pond and green meadows.
Currently, we continue to hay the meadows to feed some cattle and horses. As well, we have developed different guest houses and existing cabins to include accommodations for others who want to visit the area and enjoy the life style we offer.
We feel we have it all: wilderness, meadows, woods, wild animals, livestock, creeks, space, an old barn c. 1910, privacy, space and serenity, with Glacier National Park ten minutes away, the Bob Marshall and Flathead Forest next to us, a small grocery three miles out and larger towns and shopping another 15-40 minutes away. Please join us, summer or winter.
Directions
Abbott Valley Homestead is located eight miles west of West Glacier and ten miles northeast of Columbia Falls. Turn south at the Martin City, East Reservoir road sign; continue south for one and one-half miles. Signs designate the area. Only 20 miles to Glacier International Airport.
