North Rim Trail - Yellowstone National Park
Length: 6.8 miles
Trailhead: Park at the signed parking lot for Wapiti Lake on the South Rim Drive, just east of Chittenden Bridge located south of Canyon Village. Follow the paved path that begins in the northwest corner of the parking lot, down to the bridge and across to the signed North Rim Trail trailhead.
This trail follows the beautiful north rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. The trail begins at the north side of Chittenden Bridge and follows the river downstream along an old road. Take the stairs down to view the Upper Falls, then return to the trail and continue to the Upper Falls parking lot. You can take a second spur to the Crystal Falls overlook. The trail crosses Cascade creek, and then switchbacks down to the brink of Lower Falls. Return to the trail, continue to the end of the parking lot and descend down to Lookout Point. Follow the Red Rock Trail for another view of the Lower Falls then continue to Grand View along the edge of the canyon. The trail turns to dirt and takes you to Inspiration Point where you can turn around or arrange for a shuttle/transportation.
