Bighorn Basin Paleontological Institute - Red Lodge

Join paleontologists and adventurers on a real scientific expedition to the fossil-rich rocks of Montana and Wyoming! Help the Bighorn Basin Paleontological Institute explore one of the planets most rugged and spectacular natural laboratories; the Bighorn Basin! Be a part of our research by helping us uncover the famous Jurassic Morrison Formation, a graveyard of dinosaurs like Allosaurus, Diplodocus, and Stegosaurus! We also explore Late Cretaceous rocks, collecting fossil fish, turtles, crocodiles, and dinosaurs like Edmontosaurus and T. rex! You will be contributing to and advancing decades-long research projects!

Dont have a science background? No problem! This opportunity is open to just about anyone! Our weeklong expeditions are open to individuals aged 12 and up (with proper supervising adults). College students can register for Field Paleontology, a 2-week, 3-credit course through Rocky Mountain College. Daily Visits are available for younger children and adults who want to participate, but dont have a full week to dedicate. . Additional opportunities for educators and nonprofit groups are available. Availability is limited and reservations are required.

The BBPI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to paleontology and earth science research, education, and outreach. We harness the universal appeal of dinosaurs and paleontology to engage people of all interest levels and backgrounds to promote the earth and natural sciences.

Prices (2019):

Weekly Expedition Crew Members: $1,600 per person

Includes transportation to/from Billings, lodging, meals, tools, and instruction.

Daily Visitors: - $150 per person per day

- $50 per person per day for select

NonProfit groups and educators.

Includes tools and instruction.
