Greenough Lake Campground - Red Lodge

Aspen and pine-shaded Greenough Lake Campground sits on the banks of Rock Creek and is less than a quarter of a mile from its namesake that provides rainbow trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The Beartooth Wilderness can be accessed from nearby trail heads by hikers, with limited forest service trails for mountain bikers, and 4x4s. A variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, deer, eagles and elk, make their home in the surrounding area. The campground is situated along the Beartooth Highway, deemed by the late Charles Kuralt as the most beautiful drive in America. This gateway to Yellowstone National Park is a scenic byway that crosses 10,900+ Beartooth Pass on the Beartooth Plateau. From U.S. Highway 212 (12 miles south of Red Lodge), turn off at Rock Creek Road (Forest Road 2421). Go 1 mile to campground entrance, which is on the left. The access roads and unit spurs are paved.
