Welcome to Big Sandy, Montana

  • City Park

  • The History Museum

  • Judith Landing Recreation Area

In the midst of undulating hills of wheat fields, the tree-lined streets of Big Sandy offer a shady retreat. The town's bars, restaurants, and shops make it an ideal stop on the drive between Great Falls and Havre. Famed western artist Charlie Russell once roamed the streets of Big Sandy working as a ranch hand and, though the buildings have changed, much of the town might still be familiar to him. Big Sandy continues to be a trade center for farmers and ranchers who work the fertile land around the town, and most of the area grain gets shipped out of one of Big Sandy's several grain elevators. When you stop in Big Sandy, explore the town's agricultural past at the Big Sandy Historical Museum, test your skating skills at the Big Sandy Skate Bowl or watch the wildlife at Lonesome Lake, just north of town.
