Montana Cities and Communities

A large part of what makes Montana unique is history and heritage. Butte, Helena and Virginia City all began as mining towns; today, Butte is perhaps America's best-known mining city, while Helena's downtown still centers around "Last Chance Gulch," where gold was first discovered. Virginia City, meanwhile, has the largest collection of 19th-century "boomtown" buildings still at their original location.

Montana's rich heritage lives on today in the friendly people and places that make visitors feel so welcome. Come and experience all that Montana has to offer.
