When young George Beatty moved to the mining camp of Winston, Montana in the 1860s, he hoped that the fresh mountain air might add a year or two to his tuberculosis ridden lungs. So convinced was he that death was imminent he even brought his tombstone with him. The tombstone sat in his back shed for over seventy years before anyone could make any use of it.
