Founded as a stop along the Virginia City-Fort Benton stage coach, today Jefferson City sits between Boulder and Helena on Interstate 15. Jefferson City provides access to a number of outdoor opportunities, including Tizer Lakes, remote lakes that offer excellent fishing southeast of town, and Elkhorn, a silver mining ghost town in the mountains east of town.
Just outside of the community, visit the unique Tizer Gardens and Arboretum and make your way through garden paths that explore thousands of high altitude plants. The gardens straddle Prickly Pear Creek and make the perfect setting for elegant events, or just a quiet morning reading surrounded by natural beauty.
