DescriptionThe Upper Missouri Artists Gallery of Original Art is well known for its display of ‘originals only' artwork. Open all year, the extended hours during holidays and summers provides optimal opportunities to visit the gallery and enjoy the work of Montana artists. A visitor will be able to see paintings in oil, watercolor, mixed media and pastel; unique fused, molded glass sculpture, ceramic pottery and bronze sculptures as well as small gifts for any occasion.
A variety of styles from realism to abstract are displayed as well as many Montana subjects featuring geographical sites with historical emphasis, Montanans of all ages and in all situations from children to mature adults, which; includes Montana rural, ranching, fishing, cityscapes and society in general. Many floral still life paintings are displayed thoughout the year. Plein Aire work has become an important addition in the gallery, as member painters participate as a group to paint on location througout the state.
New Artwork submitted by each artist is incorporated into new displays every month. A large inventory of work is kept in the gallery storage and may be viewed at any time upon request. The large 1,800 square feet of gallery space affords one a lovely environment in which to absorb the finest of Montana produced original works of art.
DirectionsUpper Missouri Artists Gallery of Original Art is located off of I-15 at the crossroads with Highway 12, halfway between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. From I-15 take the capitol exit, travel west on Prospect Avenue, turn left (south) on Montana Avenue, turn right on Broadway, continue to Historic Last Chance Gulch Downtown Walking Mall.
From Highway 12 proceed to Benton Avenue, turn right (south) on Benton Avenue, continue to Broadway. The Last Chance Gulch Walking Mall is the original main street for the historic mining city which was developed during the early 1800s.
The Upper Missouri Artists Gallery of Original Art is located at 7 North Last Chance Culch on the walking mall in the historic Atlas building across from the Park Plaza Lodge. (Look for the large stone archway)
