Old Butte Historical Adventures - Butte

Welcome to Old Butte Historical Adventures! Established in 2004 by a small group of local historians and property owners working together to preserve and display the colorful history of Butte, Montana — 'The Richest Hill on Earth' — we offer family friendly walking tours of this wild era from the outside of buildings to the inside of historic uptown Butte. The Tours cover every decade from the 1890s through the 1950s. And for 2007, we've made the addition of three more museums to our previous eight, with two more before winter!

Gold, silver, and finally copper brought Butte's population to nearly 100,000 in 1917, with over 150 underground mines running 24 hours a day. Today there are numerous reminders of the opulence, decadence, and wild lifestyles of poor European immigrants, miners, businessmen and of course the wealthy 'Copper Kings.' Join us to revisit this rough-and-ready history!

Regular season opens May 1, 2006. Our Tours are WALKING tours with NO handicapped accommodations. There are numerous steps, and the elevation is a mile high in Butte. Please consider these facts before starting out on our tours.

All tours run seven days a week except as noted. Early season Ghost Town tours may be weather dependent. Note that the phone number for Ghost Town tour reservations differs from the number for other tours. Ghost Town tours require a minimum of 5 adult participants.
