Stony Cabin - Philipsburg

Stony Cabin is a primitive cabin built in 1914 and used by Forest Service employees working in the area as an intermediate stopover station. Rock Creek is a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream favored by anglers and the cabin is located in a popular area for hunters during big game season. Amenities include two bunkbeds, woodstove for heat, cookstove (bring your own propane canisters). The capacity is four people and the cabin is available year-round. There is no electricity/sewer site hookup. In winter (December -March) you may have to park on Rock Creek Road and walk approximately a quarter mile to access the cabin.

The rental fee is $20.00 per night with a $10.00 reservation fee. For more information on Stony Cabin, please call the Pintler Ranger Station.

From Philipsburg, MT, drive approximately 1 mile north towards Drummond on Montana State Highway 1 (Pintler Scenic Loop) to the junction of State Highway 348. Turn left on State Highway 348 and go west for approximately 13.6 miles to the junction of Rock Creek Road #102. Turn right on Rock Creek Road and drive west for approximately another 4.6 miles to the intersection of Stony Creek Road #241. Turn left on Stony Creek Road; the cabin is approximately a quarter mile on your right. Depending on snow conditions, this last quarter mile may not be driveable during the winter.
