Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center - Great Falls

Follow in the footsteps of America’s most iconic explorers at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls, Montana. Located on a scenic bluff overlooking the Missouri River, the 25,000 square-foot facility is one of the most immersive and educational stops along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.

Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, ranger-led programs, multilingual audio tours, and theater-style video presentations that bring Lewis and Clark’s Journey through central Montana to life. The museum's centerpiece is a self-guided exhibit hall with a striking two-story diorama of the portage route around the region’s five waterfalls on the Missouri River. Adventurous guests can test their strength by attempting to pull a replica boat against the river’s simulated current, it’s a true hands-on experience that brings history to life.

After checking out the indoor exhibits, step outside to explore scenic walking trails that wind along the Missouri River, either guided by a ranger or on your own. One short trail leads to the nearby Giant Springs State Park, where visitors will find another historic landmark, one of the largest freshwater springs in the country, discovered in 1805 along the Lewis and Clark trail in Montana.
