Shelby Chamber of Commerce - Shelby

Shelby is located at the junction of US Highway 2 and I-15, 35 miles south of the Canadian border and just one hour East of Glacier National Park. Visit the Marias Museum of History and Art (434-2551) for a look at area history, homesteading, dinosaur collection and Dempsey-Gibbons fight memorabilia. Tours are year-round. For outdoor recreation, hike our Roadrunner Recreation Trail. It covers five miles of paved asphalt with varied degrees of difficulty. The trail provides wonderful views of the Rocky Mountain and Sweetgrass Hills, takes you right through the natural prairies of northern Montana and provides great exercise.

Shelby Area Chamber of Commerce is housed in the historic Shelby Town Hall, one of the few historic buildings left in Shelby dating back to the 1920s and 'boom' era of Shelby and Toole County. The building has a colorful history in the speed of which it was built and the underlying motivation of the city officials to erect it before the 1923 World Heavyweight Championship Fight of Jack Gibbons. Named to the National Historic Register in 2007, the building is a reflection of the 'God forsaken mudhole' becoming a bustling community laying its roots for a prosperous future.
