- Saturday, September 07, 2019
The Wilderness Walk starts at the Medicine Rocks Group Use Area, where Park Ranger Tom Shoush and Montana AmeriCorps member Amber VanMeter will speak about the geologic, cultural and recreational history and future – of Medicine Rocks. Following the talk, attendees will join the park ranger on the Dalton Trail for a viewing and discussion of the park’s petroglyph history.
The Dalton Trail is an easy, one-mile trail winding through the park’s formations; the walk back to the starting point will follow the road. Elevation gain is only 46 feet on the hike; prepare for environmental conditions that may include heat, wind and rain. Water is available at the park entrance.
Following the formal program offerings, attendees are also encouraged to make their own discoveries in the park.
