In the Footsteps of Norman Maclean Festival: Writing the West: The Way Forward - Missoula

Friday, September 13, 2019 - Sunday, September 15, 2019

The 2019 Festival will feature some of the West's outstanding authors: Michael Punke, Rick Bass, Debra Magpie Earling, Judy Blunt, Richard Manning, Annick Smith, Dan O'Brien and Peter Stark. Participants also include filmmakers from “The Revenant” and “Perma Red,” an upcoming TV series. The festival kicks off Friday with two tours in Seeley Lake: Norman’s Favorite Fishing Holes and Norman’s Neighborhood. An event at 4:30 p.m. at the Museum of Forest Service History in Missoula celebrates the re-release of 40 Years a Forester by Elers Koch. The MCT Center for the Performing Arts hosts most of the remaining events, including readings, lectures and a festival dinner Saturday and film screenings Sunday.
