The music of the Queen of Soul comes to the Queen City! Though Aretha Franklin died this past August, her legacy lives on in her music. She recorded 112 charted singles on Billboard, including 20 number 1 R&B singles, won 18 Grammy Awards, and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time selling more than 75 million records worldwide. The Helena Symphony launches one of the first symphonic tributes to Aretha Franklin, featuring the Helena Symphony Orchestra complete with rock band, backup singers, members of the Symphony Chorale, and two renowned artists: Grammy nominated R&B singer Ryan Shaw, and Broadway star Capathia Jenkins (from several Tony Award productions, including "Newsies"). The concert features Franklin’s top hits as well as other music from great R&B legends including Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. The 16th annual Intrepid Credit Union Symphony Under the Stars culminates with one of the best fireworks shows in Montana. Typically, over 16,000 people attend this wonderful tradition, so pack your blankets and chairs.
